Stockholm Arlanda Airport is located about 40 km from the city of Stockholm, Sweden’s capital. The airport handles more than 25 million passengers every year and is Sweden’s largest and busiest airport.

Providing routes to some 172 destinations across the globe, Stockholm Arlanda Airport has four terminals, namely terminals 2, 3 ,4 and 5, as well as various other buildings for administration and technical support. Terminals 2, 3 and 4 all handle domestic as well as international passenger flights, while terminal 5 only deals with international routes.

Onward Travel for Arrivals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm Arlanda Airport arrivals will find many different ways of travelling to and from the airport. For passengers with room bookings at one of the airport hotels there are free shuttle buses taking them to their chosen hotel.

By Shuttle Bus to the Car Rental Station

Passengers with pre-booked car rentals from Avis, Budget, Europcar or Hertz need to go outside the arrivals hall and will find bus stop number 17 just outside. The bus service no. 17 will take customers to their car rental station free of charge and when passengers have returned their vehicles to their chosen car rental company, the bus service will pick customer up from the bus stop just outside the car rental offices and take them back to their departures terminal.

Customers renting a car from Sixt need to go to bus stop 14 outside the arrivals hall of their terminal building and take service 14 to the offices of Sixt, where they can pick up their car, keys and documents. The shuttle bus will also take customers back to the departure terminal, when the rental period is over and the customer has returned their vehicle at the Sixt rental station.

By Coach to Destinations in Sweden

There are many alternative methods of travel for arrivals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Apart from buses operating in the airport itself, there are bus services connecting the airport with the city center of Stockholm and destinations beyond. Coach services take passengers to long-distance onward destinations in Sweden. There are also some airport coaches taking passengers for onward flights at the other Stockholm airports.

By Train to Stockholm City Center and Beyond

A high-speed and long-distance rail network links Stockholm Arlanda Airport with the city and the rest of the country and other Scandinavian countries. The train station is in the airport and all terminals are well signposted so that arrivals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport can find their way.

The Arlanda Express train service connects the airport with the city on a high-speed train link taking only 20 minutes to cover the 40 km journey. Tickets must be bought either at the information counters or from the machines located at the top of the escalators leading down to the station. Every terminal building has an entrance via lift and escalator to the train station.

The actual Arlanda C train station is located directly below SkyCity, between terminals 4 and 5. There are also commuter trains travelling between the airport, Stockholm city center and to stations like Uppsala, which take about 20 minutes. These trains run every 30 minutes.

By Taxi to Stockholm City Center

There are numerous taxi services at the airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport arrivals can choose between conventional taxis and eco-friendly taxi services. Most taxis provide fixed price rides into Stockholm and arrivals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport should speak to the taxi rank officer, who will be happy to tell them what an individual journey is likely to cost. Arrivals at Stockholm Arlanda Airport can also ask to be taken in an eco-friendly cab, rather than a conventional taxi cab.
